Life is like soccer
Strength does not come from winning, your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength. (Arnold Schwarzenegger) This is an idea that I use every day I go to school and when I step on the field. Many opportunities that show up to you come with a challenge. I for one am not scared of a challenge because I know I can overcome them. Every day that I come to school I think about the challenges I might face during the day. These challenges include tests or quizes I might have. Also, any type of lesson that I don’t understand or any other challenges that I may face in school involving friends and teachers. I always aim to keep going never thinking back on hard times. All the hard times that I have had stay in the past and now those hard times have turned into my strengths.
School is much like stepping on a field. You must forget about the mistakes made and aim for a new opportunity. When I step on the field I forget all my problems and mistakes every thing that has gone wrong is forgotten and the only thing on my mind is how to make up for the mistake. Playing is much like school because everyday or game is a new chance for a better result. Not all mistakes are bad because you learn from them and you can adapt to them to make up for it. These mistakes along with the rival team are the challenges that I have to overcome. Another challenge that one must overcome is a bad grade or on the field an injury. This is because it lowers your mental state. It makes you feel bad in yourself. When I get a bad grade I feel like i did not learn the lesson right and I strive to get better. Likewise, for an injury I try to do whatever I can in order for me to get back in the game. A fail on a test or an injury is just a setback for me but like everything you have to turn those weaknesses into your strengths in order to persevere.
Soccer for me is a way for me to leave all my problems behind and focus on one thing and that is the beauty of the game. For me my life is about being on the pitch and forgetting about every bad thing that has happened that day.Soccer is not just a sport it is a feeling like no other, it is a feeling that one can not descirbe other than a peace of mind in which one doesn’t have any outside worries to focus on. Soccer for me is like a blank page where I can decide what is going to happen and how. In school however, I escape all the troubles by focusing on the classes that involve me getting my hands dirty. This would involve woodshop or metal. The reason why is because they allow me to express myself in a way that is not destructive. These classes help me relieve me from my stress because I focus on the the task in front of me. In conclusion, all the challenges from injuries to failed test have helped me become a better person. Both soccer and school have helped me learn from my mistakes and have allowed me to express and change for the better. If it wasn’t for soccer I would probably not be the type of guy I am today.
